Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 15, 2009 <br />Page 6 of 8 <br /> <br />Stewart asked if there is a budget for the project. <br /> <br />Muckle stated no. <br /> <br />Tofte asked if the City was going to pay for the markers. <br /> <br />Koertje stated he did not believe the Commission had gone far enough into the <br />project to approach the City for funding. <br /> <br />Tofte asked staff to research where funding would come from and who the <br />Commission can contact for the signs. <br /> <br />McCartney stated staff would have the information for the next HPC meeting. <br /> <br />Muckle stated she would like better surface maps to work with. <br /> <br />Lewis stated that she and Koertje had spoken to the United Mine Workers and <br />they might be able to help. <br /> <br />Old Town Historic District <br />Stewart recommended the Commission start with non-contiguous districts to <br />create historic district in downtown. He asked if staff could create some maps. <br /> <br />McCartney stated he believed staff could do so. <br /> <br />Stewart stated he could provide addresses for potential districts and each district <br />could be of a specific type. <br /> <br />Stewart stated that non-contiguous districts could insure us 100% interest. <br /> <br />Williams recommended the Commission create a community outreach program <br />in the Old Town District. <br /> <br />Muckle stated the Commission might need to be more cautious. <br /> <br />Koertje stated that maybe Stewart and Williams can work together on this issue <br />and bring something back to the Commission. <br /> <br />Update on Demolition Requests - none <br /> <br />Discussion/Comments on Planning Department Referrals - none <br /> <br />Updates <br /> <br /> <br />1800 Plaza Drive, the Hecla Casino Building – potential buyer <br /> <br />
