Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 7, 2009 <br />Page 4 of 4 <br /> <br />The Commission reiterated the need to bring the maps to the City Council study <br />session. The maps are a good representation of the structures that need to be <br />protected. <br />Update on Demolition Requests – 720 Pine Street - garage <br />The Commission did not discuss this since it had only recently been reviewed by <br />the sub-committee and no decision had been formulated. <br />Discussion/Comments on Planning Department Referrals - none <br />Koertje stated there might be a person interested in the casino but the <br />information could not be disclosed. <br /> <br />Muckle asked if the Legion was still considering acquiring the structure. <br />Koertje stated he was not sure about why they are not considering the structure <br />but they are no longer interesting in acquiring the structure. <br />Items from Staff – Demo Reviews <br /> <br />Stewart stated there is no new information on the Walnut and Lincoln stay <br />projects because the contractor has not drafted any plans. <br />Items from Commission Members <br />Koertje read an article from the newspaper where Louisville was praised for <br />having a great downtown character. <br />Muckle stated she also heard a local newspaper recently interviewed Bridget <br />Bacon. <br />Stewart reminded everyone about the upcoming Saving Places conference. <br />Tofte asked staff if there was anymore information regarding the landmarking of <br />the cemetery and would like this as an item for the next agenda. <br />Stewart asked if the City buildings are eligible for the Historic Preservation Fund <br />(HPF) grants. Koertje answered yes. There was discussion about the <br />Austin/Niehoff house, which is used by the Parks and Recreation Department <br />and is located next door (south) to City Hall. <br />Discussion Items for Next Meeting <br />Nothing mentioned. <br />Adjourn <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:39 PM. <br />
