Louisville Resource Conservation Advisory Board
Minutes
8-14-06
3.5. THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! What specific materials are the food
vendors bringing (forks, bowls, cups, etc.) to sell to the public?
A: Expected as a Zero
Waste Event: this would have utensils (made of corn starch), paper plates (uncoated or wax
coated) and food as compostible; would recycle cans, glass bottles and water bottles {discussed
all utensils to be purchased from Eco-products- but will also check with Wild Oates and Whole
foods.)
3.6. Does the event planning committee have time to call each of the food vendors?
(this is absolutely necessary).- If not Eco-Cycle staff can contact each food
vendor, this typically takes between 0.5 and 1.5 hours. Do you have a contact list
(business, contact, phone, email) for each of the food vendors?
A: Letter went to all
food vendors that this was to be a Zero-Waste event, with requirements about utensils,
etc. Eco-Cycle will call vendors and purchase additional utensils if required (Eco-Cycle
indicated that there may be a way to use part of a grant that LCARB was expecting to
get to pay for part of this)
3.7. Is there a signup deadline for adding new food vendors?
A: yes – but it is flexible
3.8. What Zero Waste communication has taken place with the vendors so far?
A: See
answer 3.6. above.
4.0. Volunteers for the Event (not in letter – but discussed at meeting)
For Friday night Senior dinner (co sponsored by Balfour retirement facility) will work with
volunteers to understand the compost and recycle aspects of what they clear from the tables.
Mark is lining up Boy & Girls Scouts.
Mark and Julie will coordinate w/ Eco-Cycle
Jenny Braus had indicated she would be available
Eco-Cycle Volunteer Coordinator (check with her about volunteering for any events:
Jesse@ecocycle.org/ 303-772-7300
