Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, August 5, 2010 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 <br />PM <br />Call to Order—Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm. <br />I. <br />Roll Call—Board Members present: Mike Frontczak, Kimberly Heestand, Meredith <br />II. <br />Preston-Eddy, Matt Tepe, Ellen Toon. Board Members absent: Vickie Marra, Theresa <br />Rounds. Staff Member present: Chris Lichty. <br />Approval of Agenda—The agenda was approved by all members. <br />III. <br />Approval of Minutes—The minutes from the May 6, 2010 meeting were approved, <br />IV. <br />with the following corrections: Board Members present should include Kimberly <br />Heestand and Meredith Preston-Eddy; and Board Members absent should include Ellen <br />Toon. <br />Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—None. <br />V. <br />Review of Carol O’Meara’s presentation—Carol’s talk was very informative, <br />VI. <br />entertaining, and well received. HFAB would like to invite her to return next year, <br />perhaps earlier in the spring. Also discussed was the need for more publicity leading up <br />to talks, including email announcements one month, one week, and one day before the <br />event. October HFAB meeting will include discussion of 2011 talks—scheduling, <br />arrangements, number of talks, etc. It was suggested to schedule Jim Ord’s talk for <br />Arbor Day week. <br />Fall tree planting at Arboretum—Chris has selected four or five locations for <br />VII. <br />planting. CTC requires $500 from other sources to match the grant amount— <br />discussion of various ways to raise the money, including donations from local <br />businesses and individuals.
