<br /> ORDINANCE NO. 894 <br /> Series 1986 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE l5 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> CONCERNING ADOPTION OF THE 1985 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE, <br /> SETTING FORTH CERTAIN STANDARDS RELATED TO FIRE PROTECTION AND <br /> AMENDING THE SAFETY CODE CONCERNING ELEVATORS AND ESCALATORS TO <br /> THE 1984 EDITION. <br /> The following amendments were adopted on second and final <br /> reading with respect to Ordinance No. 894: <br /> Section l. Sections 15.12.010, 15.12.020, l5.l2.030, <br /> 15.12.040, l5.l2.050 of the Louisville Municipal Code are hereby <br /> repealed. <br /> 15.12.020 Section 2.10l AMENDED - ADMINISTRATION AND <br /> ENFORCEMENT. Section 2.101 of the Uniform Fire Code is amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> Section 2.101 - The City Administrator shall be responsible <br /> for administration and enforcement of this code. <br /> l5.12.060 FIRE LANE REQUIREMENTS. ( A ) Multi-family <br /> housing, buildings over l50 feet in length, or buildings over 30 feet <br /> in width, must be provided with ready access on legal fire lanes to <br /> the rear of such buildings. ( B ) Buildings 35 feet or greater in <br /> height must be provided with ready access on legal, unobstructed fire <br /> lanes to at least two sides of the building from which rescue can be <br /> made. ( C ) Dead end streets over 150 feet long shall have cul-de- <br /> sacs providing an unobstructed turning radius of no less than 50 <br /> feet, "T" turns providing an unobstructed turning radius of no less <br /> than 30 feet, or other configurations as may be approved by the City. <br /> No street shall exceed 500 feet in length without providing an <br /> alternate fire lane access nor shall any street exceed 300 feet in <br /> length for multi-family, industrial or commercial development. <br /> 15.12.070 FIRE LANE SPECIFICATIONS. ( A ) Fire lanes shall <br /> be clearly marked with an approved sign and kept clear of <br /> obstructions. ( B ) Fire lanes shall be at least twenty feet wide at <br /> buildings and no less than l6 feet wide at all other locations. ( C ) <br /> The center of fire lanes at buildings shall be no more than 30 feet <br /> not less than 20 feet from the building, and all such lanes shall <br /> have an unobstructed outside turning radius of no less than 50 feet <br /> and an inside turning radious of no less than 30 feet. ( D ) There <br /> shall be no overhead obstructions lower than 15 feet on fire lanes <br /> or side obstructions closer than five feet from the outer edges of <br /> fire lanes. ( E ) Fire lanes shall be of suitable construction to <br /> withstand the weight of fire apparatus and must be able to hold l5 <br /> tons for a single family residence and 25 tons for multi-family, <br /> commercial and industrial needs.
