Mayor Charles Sisk
749 Main Street
Louisville, CO 80027
Re: Horticulture & Forestry Advisory Board
Dear Mr. Mayor:
I am interested in becoming a member of the Horticulture & Forestry Advisory Board.
During the past few years I have wanted to become more involved in Louisville
community activities and believe this is one of the areas in which I can contribute.
have spoken with Board members and attended their last meeting to get a first hand
look at the work they do. Based upon my positive impressions, I have decided to
submit this letter of interest. As you can see in my attached Professional Experience
and Qualifications, I am well suited for this type of work and would look forward to
working with you and the Board.
Regarding my experience that is directly pertinent to the Board, I want to draw your
attention in the attached document to my involvement with the Colorado Mountain
Reclamation Foundation (See Affiliations). For the past ten years I have been working
with the community in Colorado Springs to reclaim three quarries that had become the
subject of considerable statewide controversy. A significant part of that effort has been
the selection and use of vegetation to mitigate the visual impacts from the quarries.
believe this experience, along with the experiences 1 have had in the field of mining
reclamation, will enable me to make a contribution.
Thank you for your consideration, and if you have questions or would like to discuss this
further, please feel free to call me at my office (303- 604 -0200) or my home (303 -661-
9158).
Attachment
RECENT
T
FEB 1 0 2004
CITY OFLOUISVItio
Fred Banta
370 W.
