COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MALCOLM FLEMING, CITY MANAGER <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 14, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION 2010 – 2011 WORK PLAN <br />ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: Planning and Building Safety Department <br />SUMMARY: <br />This Study Session is intended to generate a conversation between the Planning Commission <br />and City Council regarding 2010-2011 work plan. The proposed 2010-2011 work plan was <br />endorsed by the Planning Commission at their regular meeting on July 8, 2010. <br />Downtown Parking & Pedestrian Action Plan <br />Description:The goal of this effort is to develop a downtown parking and pedestrian action <br />plan that maximizes the utilization of both on-street and off-street, public and private parking <br />resources, using both short and long term solutions focused on creating a vibrant, walkable, <br />and economically vital Downtown Louisville. <br />Status: <br /> Parking Ordinance Adopted August 2010 <br /> Supporting Action Plan Started July 2010 <br /> Walking Audit was Conducted – August 2010 <br />Schedule: <br /> Completion - October, 2010 <br />Green Building Program <br />Description:The goal of this effort is to provide input to City Council for the emerging Louisville <br />Green Point Building Program in consideration to community design and development as well <br />as development cost impacts and consistency to the Revised Louisville Comprehensive Plan. <br />This effort would include working collaboratively with the Louisville Sustainability Advisory <br />Board. <br /> Develop Green Building Program standards for City Council consideration. <br /> Three part scope of work drafted utilizing outside professional services to conduct <br />o <br />community – stakeholder input. <br /> Request funding from Governors Energy Office to facilitate program. <br />o <br /> Conduct public hearing process. <br />o <br /> Provide follow up education and technical assistance. <br />o <br />Status: <br /> Grant application submitted June 2010 / Grant denied August 2010. <br />Schedule: <br /> TBD. <br />SUBJECT AGENDA ITEM <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />2010 – 2011 <br />II <br />WORK PLAN <br />2 <br /> <br />
