Policy ED-1.4: <br /> The City should focus on efforts that will encourage existing <br />businesses to expand and develop in Louisville. <br />Policy ED-1.5: <br /> The City should review requests for business assistance based upon <br />criteria under the Business Assistance Program. <br />Policy ED-1.6: <br /> The City should continue business retention visits as a means of <br />reaching out to businesses in Louisville to specifically understand the needs of the <br />business community. <br />Principle ED-2. The City should direct growth in an economically responsible way, <br />to maintain quality amenities and high service levels for residents. <br />Policy ED-2.1: <br />The City should strive to achieve complementary land uses that <br />promote an economically healthy community. <br />Policy ED-2.2: <br /> The City should work on a consistent basis to maintain and improve <br />community assets such as the educational, housing, recreational, retail and cultural <br />opportunities that encourage local businesses to remain and expand in Louisville. <br />Principle ED-3. The City should be responsive to market opportunities as they <br />occur, and maintain and enhance the City’s competitive position to attract <br />development that adheres to the Community Vision. <br />Policy ED-3.1: <br />The City should actively compete for quality economic development <br />opportunities. <br />Policy ED-3.2: <br />The City should consider strategic public investments to most <br />effectively encourage, promote and recruit private investment that responds to the <br />Community Vision and community needs. <br />Policy ED-3.3: <br /> The City should establish a protocol for responding, from a single <br />point of contact, to requests for real estate, economic and demographic information <br />requests. <br />Policy ED-3.4: <br />The City should support Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown <br />Business Association activities directed toward economic development both <br />financially and through staff and support services. <br />Policy ED-3.5: <br /> The City should fund and manage a successful range of economic <br />development services to respond to business development inquiries about the <br />community. <br />Policy ED-3.6: <br /> The City should support redevelopment efforts that bring diversity <br />and income generation to aging and distressed areas within Louisville. <br /> <br />
