Memorandum <br />To:Historical Commission <br />From:Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator <br />Date:October 12, 2010 <br />Re:Museum Coordinator’s Report <br />I attended the ANFRM Professional Group Meetingat Four Mile Historic Park in Denver on <br />th <br />September 13. The topicfor the Professional Group meeting was how to construct protective <br />mounts for collection storageand metal mounts for museum exhibits.In August, volunteer Mary <br />Kay Knorr and I attended the ANFRM Volunteer Group Meeting at the Hiwan Homestead <br />Museum in Evergreen. <br />Museum volunteer Gail Khasawneh and I attended a ceremony at the Spirit of Flight Center in <br />th <br />Erie on September 30. The occasion was the posthumous awarding of the Congressional <br />Medal of Honor to Mary Trebing, whowas a Women’s Airforce Service Pilot (WASP)during <br />World War II and was killed in an airplane accident. She was from Louisville. Gail Khasawneh <br />rd <br />will be speaking about Mary Trebing and other servicemen and women on Nov. 3. <br />The summer walking tours brought in total donations of $510 to the HistoricalCommission and <br />averaged 25-30 people for each tour. <br />As a reminder, the next Louisville Historianwill be a special issue consisting of one longer piece <br />by Pete Lindquist about the earliest years of Louisville. <br />The exhibit of photos and artifacts from the Museumthat I put together, “Who Do We Think We <br />Are?”, is up in the lobby of the Louisville Public Library. <br />The Louisville Art Association art competition entries, which this year havethe Historical <br />Museum buildings and campus as the subject matter,aretobe hung at the Library on October <br />th <br />15. <br />Museum Visitors Report(these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, andnot inquiries <br />that come in by email or phone): <br />August visitors: 107;September visitors 128; YTD visitors: 921 <br />A recent analysis of visitor statistics showed that while the public hours for the first three <br />quarters of 2010 are at 39% of what they were for the same period in 2009due to budget <br />cutbacks, the number of visitors to the Museum for the first three quarters is at 69% of the <br />numberof visitors for the same period in 2009. <br /> <br />
