Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
10/1/09
Page 2of 4
Daisy:
Yes I agree with Brooke and another idea that I have is that I went
to Dawson over the summer (summer school) and I leaned a lot about
health and why we all should be sanitary cause I have seen a lot of little
kids at my school not was their hands and I think that if there could be a
way that we could talk to little kids at a preschool about this subject maybe
we could help everything be more sanitary.
Megan:
What about the teenfriendly street fair idea?
Brooke:
I know that Hannah said that her dad helps choose what bands
play at the street fairs and he could help us possibly choose a band that
would draw more youth to the street fairs.
Lucas:
Maybe we could add certain “zones” for the youth.
Brooke:
Ya I agree with Lucas because there is a bouncy castle for the
little kids and a beer area for the adults, but not a specific place for the
youth to go.
Megan:
so this could be one of our long term goals all in favor raise your
hand (everyone raises hands.)
Megan:
and maybe for the traffic light problem we could send a letter to
the boards and commissions.
Daisy:
The street light problem isn’t just for the youth because my mom
has gone running around that area and she has almost gotten hit also
there are bickers and older people up there too.
Lucas:
maybe we could send out flyers to everyone to just remind them
because I know that a street light would be too expensive.
Mandy:
or articles in the newspaper.
Frost:
or we could book a water bill flyer.
Mandy:
well I’ve heard that those get booked really fast
Brooke:
well I don’t think the flyers thing will work that well.
Eliza:
we could do an article of awareness to the Louisville times.
Megan:
we can send a letter to the board of the city manager.
(Everyone raises hands)
Megan:
so we will talk about that next meeting.
Mandy:
what about the “going green” ideas that we’ve been talking
about?
Christina:
I think that it would be a great thing if we could go a Louisville
preschool and do asmall skit about how it is impotent and everything.
th
Mandy:
there is a board meeting on the 20about that kind of info.
Daisy:
so we could connect the street fair info to the “go green” info. I
think we should some kind of activates at the street fairsthat encourage
recycling.
Brooke:
that would be good.
Megan:
anything else...no? ok lets move on.
X.
