Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
10/1/09
Page 3of 4
Megan:
any eyes and ears?
Brooke:
we have the YMCA idea.
Bonnie:
Ooooh that was sooo much fun we gotto do the haunted house and
we got to help out with the kids!
Megan:
so would we like run the events?
Joy:
well we can scare the kids in the haunted house but most of the events
are taken care of by older volunteers.
Daisy:
what else would they have?
Mandy:
whatever the YMCA chooses for activates that they think would be
fun for the kids but we would arrive at 4:30 and they would give us snacks
and tell us what we can do.
Joy:
bonnie and I have a friend who wants to volunteer would that be ok?
Mandy:
yes that would be awesome.
Megan:
so do we know anything that Louisville could improve?
Bonnie:
I see a lot of kids being rude to people in down town and I think that
that isn’t really how we want others to think of us. And also I’ve seen a lot of
trash.
Brooke:
to comment on the trash subject, I think we should do a trash clean
up day or something.
Mandy:
we do, do a John Brox clean up day is that something you mean?
Brooke:
Ya something like that.
Lucas:
we could do a “make a difference week or something like that.
Joy:
this is a little random but have any of you seen the graffiti “look” around
creeks or in bridges, cause I’ve seen a lot of that and was wondering is that
like a gang… or what?
Daisy:
I’ve seen that to and it just bothers me to see that kind of stuff in
neighborhoods and all around.
Eliza:
we could decade 1 bridge for graffiti so it could be looked up to as a
positive thing.
Joy:
I’ve been to a school were they had on big zone just full of are (graffiti)
that kids have made and it really did look creative and positive.
Megan:
anyone else?
Eliza:
I really like that idea.
Joy:
I really like the idea of the police coming to our meeting to talk to us
about the graffiti problems.
Mandy:
so then Brooke can you email and officer and ask him if he’d be
interested in coming?
Megan:
sure thing!
Antonia:
I notice that superior has a YAB group also and maybe we could
meet up with them (cause I know a lot of my friends love the street fairs) and
they could help us brainstorm.
Megan:
Comments?
Daisy:
we could also do some sort of cleaning day for parks,
Frost:
good idea.
Megan:
I like that and it should go on our list for next moth so here is the list
for what we can discuss next month.
