Sustainability Advisory Board
Minutes
February 21, 2024
content has concluded. They recommended including new Marshall Fire homes
and retrofits of existing, older homes. A member recommended the home tours
have labels that show the changes made and the utility bill impacts. The
members want to see hands-on components such as infrared cameras to show
insulation, sound of heat pumps and cross -cutting of walls. LSAB suggested
partners that include: Go Electric Colorado, Alpine Windows, EnergySmart, an
induction chef, and the Colorado Green Building Guild. LSAB suggested
outreach through Eco-leaders and Marshall Fire groups. LSAB suggested
metrics to track progress and a focus on taking the next step, rather than just
education. They suggested all rebates be collected in one place and the event
handouts focus on the return on investment that comes from upgrading the
home.
A draft outline of a letter to City Council is needed to present the Community
Decarbonization Plan for approval. This will include support for the staff's
recommendation to update the climate action goals to align with elements of the
Plan recommended by the stakeholder group: to reduce by 2030 the city-wide
greenhouse gas emissions by 60% (up from 50%) relative to the emissions in
2016.
Since this letter will be supporting the Community Decarbonization Plan as a
whole, this outline would include all the components, including the residential
education workshop series, PACE supporting businesses in decarbonizing, third
party engineering firms doing business audits, EV chargers at multifamily units,
funding a dedicated PACE advisor, working with Lafayette and Superior,
Partners in Energy, etc.
Additional funding may be requested for additional temporary assistants,
neighborhood Captains, marketing and outreach (mailings, flyers), etc.
