Sustainability Advisory Board
Minutes
February 21, 2024
• Recommend more transparent information when homes are sold/bought
about options — or automatically switch trash back to smallest size
• Recommend education about GHG emissions associated with waste
decomposition in landfill
Discussion Item: 2024 LSAB Work Plan —
Kayla and Todd reviewed the plan to present the 2024 LSAB Work Plan to
Council on March 12. See packet for Work Plan and additional information.
Public Comments
There were no public comments on this item
Board Discussion
Josh asked that Council clarify what they mean on their Work Plan in regard to
"Sustainability Programs". Kevin asked that LSAB voice their support for energy
codes and ask Council to provide feedback on this topic. Tiffany recommended
LSAB include language around additional funding for staffing and rebates and
additionally said that the board should include information about alignment with
other City plans, including the Comprehensive Plan. If Council also agrees that
sustainability is aligned with a planning effort, it supports the claim that there
should be additional funding for staffing and rebates. The board also agreed that
this is an opportunity to voice support for the Internal Decarbonization Plan.
Sub -Committee and Board Member Updates —
None.
Administrative Tasks —
Allison to write the next Sustainability Spotlight, due March 15. Hannah will reach
out to Josh about signing up for a Spotlight in 2024.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting —
