Information from the
Open House and a survey is available now.
• Solid waste contract proposals went to Council on March 5.
o Council selected Republic Services as the city contracted waste hauler for the
next 5 years and selected the base option that includes all electric vehicle waste
hauling trucks! The trucks will begin servicing Louisville when the new contract
begins (fall 2024).
• LSAB's 2024 Work Plan went to Council on March 12. Council feedback included:
o Lawn equipment electrification — Interest in rebates/incentives rather than
regulation and interested in learning more
o Memos — Agreement that this is an impactful way to communicate, Council will
try to close the loop on communication/feedback through staff liaison. Request
from CM Fahey for a memo that explains the impacts of a 'business as usual'
scenario.
o Internal Decarbonization Plan — When staff send a memo update to Council,
include an LSAB memo that explains the board's recommendations and anything
missing from the project (April).
o Energy Code — Include LSAB recommendations in the energy code memo,
interested in hearing from LSAB but don't want to be the first to pass advanced
codes.
o Budget — Council would like to see LSAB's budget recommendations, ranked
based on impact and return on investment.
• The Community Decarbonization Plan will go to Council on April 2.
• Energy code amendments will go to Council on April 16.
• Internal Decarbonization Plan
o Public Works is hiring a new Project Manager who will oversee the
implementation/construction of phase 1 of the Plan.
o Full update will be provided at the April meeting.
Grants
• The City of Louisville, in collaboration with the Front Range Beneficial Electrification
Network (FRBEN) and the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) are
applying for the EPA's Carbon Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) to accelerate building
electrification in the region.
o The application is due April 1, 2024 and the group will likely be applying for
$100M+ in funding.
PJ
