LafayettePublic Library Board <br />Louisville Library Board <br />Special Joint Meeting <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 8, 2010, 7:00 p.m. <br />Meeting called to order at 7:07 p.m. <br />Members present <br />Kevin Minnihan, David Clark, Scott Steinbrecher,, Jim Baillie, Susan Kintzle, Community Life <br />Director Betsy Stroomer <br />Members absent: <br />Ethan Hecht, Marjorie Jannotta <br />Louisville Library board members and staff present <br />Jeannie Schuman (secretary for library board), Eileen Patrick, Meredith Davis, Karen Freiter <br />(staff support services), Beth Barrett (Director of Library and Museum Services) <br />One Book Project <br />Beth Barrett and Community Life Director Betsy Stroomer introduced to the boards what has <br />happened with the One Book Project so far. A steering committee consisting of the mayors <br />from Lafayette, Louisville and Superior, board members and citizens has formed to start the <br />process of developing ideas and implementing plans. They are currently working on a goal <br />statement for what the communities will get out of participating in the program. The book <br />that will be the centerpiece for the One Book program will be announced in July of 2011. <br />There will be approximately six weeks of events spread throughout the three different towns <br />relating to the book. These events will include all ages and will culminate in the middle of <br />October. Some of the items that the steering committee will be working on are finding people <br />for fundraising, organizing programs, running events and hospitality committee (refreshments <br />for the events). <br />st <br />There is a steering committee meeting on December 1. Other committees relating to the <br />One Book program will be meeting in January to begin planning for the fall. <br />Sharing success from last year <br />Louisville <br />1.Coming to an agreement with the town of Superior so the residents of Superior could <br />use the resources of the Louisville Library. The agreement consisted of Superior paying <br />Louisville 20% of the library’s operating costs. <br />2.Rewrote the bylaws. <br />3.Met with a variety of committees in Louisville. <br />Lafayette <br />1.Completed our three year strategic plan. <br />2.Participation of summer reading program. <br />3.Continued success with the homework center in student attendance and volunteers. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:38 pm. <br />Minutes submitted by: Kevin Minnihan <br /> <br />
