PAGE TWO <br />SUBJECT: SALES TAX REPORT FOR THE MONTH ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2010 <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 14, 2011 <br />The Historical Revenue report compares nine years of sales tax revenue. Since 2002, <br />the City’s annual sales tax revenue has declined almost $1M. <br />The sales tax revenue by area report is a quarterly snapshot of the retail health of <br />various sections of the City. This report includes all vendors remitting tax to the City. <br />Sales tax revenue increased in 2010 for Downtown, Pine Street Plaza, Louisville Plaza, <br />Highway 42 South, CTC, McCaslin North, and Other areas. Revenues declined in 2010 <br />for South Boulder Road, Centennial Valley, Residential, Highway 42 North, South <br />Suburban and the Interchange areas. The most significant declines in 2010 were for the <br />Interchange and South Boulder Road areas reflecting the loss of Sam’s Club and <br />Safeway. <br />Included in your packet are the annual restaurant sales tax revenue charts for 2010 <br />which indicate YTD revenue comparisons from 2004 through 2010. As the graphs <br />illustrate, there was an overall increase in restaurant sales tax revenue for 2010. <br />Leading the increase were the Downtown, SBR/Hwy 42 and McCaslin areas while <br />Louisville Plaza and the Interchange continued slight declines for 2010. <br />Also provided are charts for the same areas which compare the monthly sales tax trends <br />over a three- year period. <br />The Revenue by industry report reflects the retail health of individual industry sectors. <br />This report includes all vendors remitting tax to the City. <br />Gains were seen in most sectors for 2010, rebounding some to their 2008 levels. The <br />most improved sectors for 2010 include Manufacturing, Furniture, Food/Beverage, <br />Services and Miscellaneous Retail. Steady sales tax revenue continued in 2010 for <br />Agriculture, Construction, Wholesale, Grocery, Telecom/Utilities, Automotive, Building <br />Materials, Apparel and Leasing/Financial. <br />The most significant decline for 2010 was our General Merchandise sector reflecting the <br />loss of Sam’s Club, a category that has not been absorbed by other Louisville retailers <br />as has happened in our Grocery sector. <br />é <br />
