<br />City Council Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 4, 2006 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br /> <br />DISCUSSION - BRAD GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR 2006 <br /> <br />Brown asked the City Council to adopt an ordinance that officially organizes the <br />BRaD Committee and delineates its duties as it has never been done. <br /> <br />Members agreed upon some specific goals for 2007: <br />. Training of all members for visits with businesses <br />. Decisions on how better to market the economic development web site. <br />. A January joint study session of BRaD, City Council, Planning <br />Commission to discuss strategic planning. In particular Hogan will address <br />the following as they relate to business retention and development: <br />o Realistic expectations of new development <br />o What developers are looking for to locate in Louisville <br />o What is the role of the City Council and Planning Commission in <br />development process <br />o The need for clear direction in the development process for both <br />developers and staff <br /> <br />Brown asked staff to get an update to the Business Congress letting the <br />members know what the Committee is currently doing and noting plans to have a <br />full Business Congress meeting in March as well as inviting them to the January <br />joint study session on strategic planning. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING <br /> <br />. January 8 <br />o Interview of Gift Card Vendors <br />o Comparison of Development Fees <br />o Draft of Revisions to Louisville Profile Piece <br />. February 5 <br />o Creation of Separate Economic Development Organization <br /> <br />ADJOURN <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 AM. <br />
