Planning Director Wood noted the boundaries are North of <br />Walnut Street, East and West of Main Street, and South of Pine Street. <br />City Manager Simmons noted the Planning Commission had reviewed the plans <br />for the new library building, which has a building height of 35 feet. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown closed the public hearing. <br />MOTION: Council member Marsella moved to approve Ordinance No. 1497, <br />Series 2006, with the seconded reading amendments. Council member Muckle <br />seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote of <br />6-0. Absent: Mayor Sisko <br />RESOLUTION No. 32, SERIES 2006 - A RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION FOR NOVEMBER 7, 2006, TO BE CONDUCTED AS A <br />COORDINATED ELECTION, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING A TABOR <br />BALLOT ISSUE TO THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF THE CITY. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown requested a Staff presentation. <br />Deputy City Manager Boyd explained Resolution No. 32, Series 2006, calls for a <br />special election for November 7, 2006 to submit to the City's registered electors, <br />a Tabor Ballot Issue concerning the imposition of a City use tax. Pursuant to <br />Section 6-3 of the Home Rule Charter, the City Council may call a special <br />election by resolution adopted not less than 60 days prior to the date of the <br />election. The 2006 Coordinated Election conducted by the Boulder County Clerk <br />and Recorder is Tuesday, November 7,2006. The Election will be conducted as <br />a polling place election. The estimated cost for the election is $21,000. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown requested public comments. There were no comments. <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown asked the Council to voice their support to the citizens of <br />Louisville. It was his hope the citizens will recognize it is a civic investment. <br />Council member Sackett noted the City is in a competitive environment with other <br />cities that have use tax. He voiced his support for the use tax. <br />MOTION: Council member Muckle moved to approve Resolution No. 32, Series <br />2006, seconded by Council member Marsella. Roll call vote was taken. The <br />motion carried by a vote of 6-0. Absent: Mayor Sisko <br />
