OLD TOWN SKATE IS HERE!
Louisville's ice skating tradition returns as Old Town
Skate
The City of Louisville is excited to introduce Old Town
Skate, a revitalized and improved downtown ice skating
experience. Old Town Skate opened on November 18,
2023, under new management and a fresh name.
For two decades, Old Town Louisville has cherished
its ice skating tradition. The Louisville Revitalization
Commission (LRC), Downtown Business Association
(DBA), and City staff joined forces to maintain and
enhance this iconic downtown ice rink.
LRC Chair Lexi Adler said, "The transformation into
'Old Town Skate' enhances downtown's vibrancy,
offering outdoor fun for residents and supporting local
businesses in winter."
Funded by the LRC, Old Town Skate is now part of
the City of Louisville Parks, Recreation, & Open Space
Department, with Rocky Rinks handling operations.
The upgraded experience includes new equipment,
improved ice conditions, stunning lighting, sound -
activated shows, diverse music, fresh concessions, and
lower prices. Timeless traditions include family -friendly
fun, holiday music, convenient skate rentals, and free
parking. Free horse-drawn carriage rides are also
available on select weekends courtesy of the DBA.
Families, friends, and all are invited to enjoy the
season's magic at 'Old Town Skate,' located at the
