Wildfire mitigation plan and storyboard
In response to the devastating Marshall Fire, the City
initiated a new wildfire hazard and risk assessment for
Louisville public lands. The purpose of the project is
to develop a comprehensive, science -based wildfire
hazard and risk assessment and to provide mitigation
recommendations for the City's public lands and facility
grounds to be more resilient against future events. The best
practices summarized in this report can be used to inform
management decisions by the City as our community
continues to recover from the Marshall Fire and adapt to the
increasing risk of wildfires in Colorado. To view the plan and
storyboard, visit LouisvillCO.gov/WildfireRiskAssessment.
PARKS
Tree maintenance and pruning
This fall, the City completed a tree maintenance and
pruning project along South Boulder Road, Cherry
Street, and Dillon Road. The initiative was part of the
Parks General Maintenance and Management Plan
(GMMP), and is aimed at enhancing the health and
safety of the trees and surrounding area. Pruning is
an essential aspect of tree care and can be likened
to a haircut for plants. It involves removing damaged
branches, improving aesthetics, and providing a healthy
foundation for tree growth. For more information, visit
to walk or play on the ice, but it can easily break. NEVER
venture onto ice. Police will be called, and if violators
are under 18, their parents will receive a summons.
Additionally, for safety, we do not allow non -golfers on
the golf course at any time. This includes cross-country
skiing, showshoeing, walking, running, cycling, dogs off
leash and/or playing on the fairways. Please choose one
of the City's many open space trails for these activities.
