The purpose of the project is
to develop a comprehensive, science -based wildfire
hazard and risk assessment and to provide mitigation
recommendations for the City's public lands and facility
grounds to be more resilient against future events. The best
practices summarized in this report can be used to inform
management decisions by the City as our community
continues to recover from the Marshall Fire and adapt to the
increasing risk of wildfires in Colorado. The initiative was part of the
Parks General Maintenance and Management Plan
(GMMP), and is aimed at enhancing the health and
safety of the trees and surrounding area. Pruning is
an essential aspect of tree care and can be likened
to a haircut for plants. It involves removing damaged
branches, improving aesthetics, and providing a healthy
foundation for tree growth.
