The headline CPI rose 0.5% month -over -month and 3.0% year -over -year, while <br />the Core CPI rose 0.4% month -over -month and 3.3% year -over -year. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Index rose 0.3% from <br />the previous month and 2.5% year -over -year in January. The Core PCE deflator (the Fed's preferred gauge) increased 0.3% month -over - <br />month and 2.6% over the past year in January versus a 2.9% increase in December.
