Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />April 2, 2025 <br />Page 5 of 5 <br />i. Turf will be taken out at the Arboretum (turf grass to the west of the <br />Arboretum) 1600-2500 square feet of turf grass replaced with <br />Resource Central "Garden in a Box." On the east side the irrigated <br />blue grass locations will be replaced with Bermuda grass (low <br />water) from Mile High Food District. Demonstrations space for a low <br />water, heat tolerant grass. <br />• Arbor Day April 18, 2025; will be planting 12 new trees. <br />i. Girl Scouts will be doing a clean-up of Arboretum <br />• If we collect 1000 pieces of #2 plastic by April 15, Louisville will win a free <br />bench — collecting at the branch site this Saturday. <br />• Sunflower and Enclave Park Projects updates — open by mid to late May. <br />There will be an opening ceremony for both. Playground equipment <br />arriving in mid -April. Pouring concrete in both locations. <br />11. Discussion Items for Next Meeting <br />• Arboretum native garden suggestions <br />• Milkweed status on noxious weed list <br />• Quasi-judicial design review; there is a design review plan that will be <br />reviewed by PPLAB in May. <br />• Pesticide conversation — May or June. John underscores importance of <br />protecting pollinators, including from pesticides. <br />• Augment plant lists on city website — add `host' plants for butterflies, add <br />more to other categories so that people have more choices — perhaps <br />revisit in June. <br />12.
