(All -electric building, combustion <br />equipment, future electric equipment, mixed fuel <br />buildings, and off -grid homes are from Cohort; <br />emergency power system and standby power system are <br />from 2024 IBC) <br />[Clarification] <br />2. Section R202 GENERAL DEFINITIONS is amended to add the following <br />definitions in alphabetical order: <br />ALL -ELECTRIC BUILDING. A new building that contains no permanently - <br />installed combustion equipment or plumbing for combustion eauipment. or <br />an existing building that contains no permanently -installed combustion <br />equipment. <br />COMBUSTION EQUIPMENT. Equipment or appliances that use fuel gas. <br />fuel oil. or any other hydrocarbon -derived fuel or fuel blend to perform <br />functions such as space heating, space cooling, service water heating <br />(including pools and spas), cooking, clothes drying, humidification, or <br />lighting. The scope of this definition may be limited to combustion -based <br />space and water heating equipment where specifically indicated. <br />Combustion equipment does not include emergency power systems or <br />standby power systems. <br />EMERGENCY POWER SYSTEM. A source of automatic electric power of <br />a required capacity and duration to operate required life safety, fire alarm, <br />detection, and ventilation systems in the event of a failure of the primary <br />power. Emergency power systems are those required for electrical loads <br />where interruption of the primary power could result in loss of human life <br />or serious iniuries. <br />FUTURE ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT. Electrically -powered eauipment that <br />could be installed in the future to replace combustion equipment to meet a <br />similar end use or load. <br />MIXED -FUEL BUILDING. A new building that contains combustion <br />equipment or piping for combustion equipment. or an existing building that <br />contains combustion equipment. in addition to electric loads. <br />OFF -GRID HOME. A residential building that does not receive any site <br />energy from a publicly or privately owned utility, including for electricity, <br />fuel gas. or fuel oil. <br />STANDBY POWER SYSTEM. A source of automatic electric power of a <br />required capacity and duration to operate required building or ventilation <br />
