Standby power <br />systems are those required for electrical loads where interruption of the <br />primary power could create hazards or hamper rescue or fire -fighting <br />operations. <br />These changes are part of adding the optional <br />Passive House compliance pathway (Green), removing <br />the Tropical Climate Region Option (LECC), <br />requiring net zero -level efficiency for extra -large <br />homes (modified from LECC), and exempting off -grid <br />homes from demand response capability and EV-ready <br />requirements (Cohort). <br />[Flexibility] [Simplification from LECC] [Strengthening <br />from base and LECC] [Limited cost reduction] <br />3. Section R401.2 Application is amended as follows: <br />R401.2 Application. Residential buildings with less than an average of <br />5.000 square feet (465 m2) of conditioned floor area per dwelling unit shall <br />comply with Section R401.2.1, R401.2.2, R401.2.3,. or R1101.2./1 or <br />R401.2.5, as well as appendices RB, RE, RJ, and RK as amended. <br />Residential buildings with an average of 5.000 sauare feet (465 m2) or <br />more of conditioned floor area per dwelling unit shall comply with Section <br />R401.2.3 or R401.2.5 as well as appendices RB, RE, RJ, and RK as <br />amended. <br />Exceptions: <br />1. Additions, alterations, repairs, and changes of <br />occupancy to existing buildings complying with Chapter 5. <br />2. Off -arid homes need not comply with Appendix RE or Appendix RJ. <br />4. Section R401.2.4 Tropical Climate Region Option is deleted in its <br />entirety. <br />5. Section R401.2.5 Passive House Option is added as follows: <br />R401.2.5 Passive House Option. The Passive House option requires <br />compliance with Section R409. <br />
