City Council Economic Vitality Committee
Meeting Minutes
May 8, 2025
Page 4of6
There was a brief discussion regarding information to businesses about the
program and how to apply, clarifying that developers are eligible to
participate, partnering with the Chamber and the DBA to get the word out and
the opportunity for non -profits to also participate.
Mayor Leh asked if it is the City's declining population that makes Louisville
eligible for the enterprise zone. . Manager Zarate remarked yes. The zone will
be in effect for ten years; because our population will be under the limit, that
affords opportunities to re-evaluate and add to the zone; nothing will come out
of the zone until the redesignation.
Mayor Leh asked if this will be going to Council. Manager Zarate responded
no. All this is done at Staff level and is approved by the State.
Public Comment:
Gillian Millar, Executive Director of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce,
expressed her support for this and stated that she is excited to collaborate
with the City.
Manager Zarate pointed out on another map what is currently qualified.
Manager Zarate clarified that Louisville is within the single north metro zone,
that the zones are currently being reevaluated and that some areas of the
current enterprise zone will have graduated out due to population growth. She
also reiterated that Louisville has not previously been a part of the north
metro zone.
Mayor Leh asked for any additional public comment — there was none.
8. Staff Updates:
Regarding the US 36 collaborative, Manager Zarate noted Louisville has
renewed the partnership with Colorado Bioscience Association -Colorado Help
for Help Campaign Phase 2.
The Taste of Louisville is coming up the first weekend of June. She also
stated that Economic Development Council of Colorado hosts a basic
economic development course every year in June. The course is accredited
through the International Economic Development Council. Manager Zarate
noted that she will be an instructor for this year's course.
Manager Zarate also gave updates on the CU/Cinebarre property, Relish at
550 S McCaslin Blvd and Huntington Bank at 515 S McCaslin Blvd.
Public Comment:
Jeff Sheets, Koelbel & Company, we own the bank and Huntington is a
tenant; they hope to open in a few weeks.
