City Council Economic Vitality Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 8, 2025 <br />Page5of6 <br />There was discussion regarding Ironton's as unknown opening date, possible <br />tax incentives, urban renewal incentives, sustainability incentives and <br />possible landmarking potential. <br />Mayor Leh asked for information regarding the main street designation. <br />Manager Zarate responded the main street designation was originally brought <br />up during the potential incentives conversation. She is gathering more <br />information on the tangible benefits prior to bringing to Council. <br />Public Comment: <br />Mark Oberholzer, President of Louisville Downtown Business Association, <br />what does main street designation mean? Manager Zarate explained it is a <br />downtown/main street designation program that can open doors for funding <br />for things such as wayfinding, transportation, infrastructure, tourism. It is a <br />program through DOLA at the state, modeled off of a federal main street <br />America program. <br />Councilmember Fahey commented on the BizWest article on the Best Project <br />Award for the Downtown Vision Plan and the Louisville rankings in the best <br />places to live by niche.com. She encouraged promotion of those two items. <br />Mayor Leh asked for any update regarding Sundance. <br />Manager Zarate replied none to note although there are a lot of conversations <br />happening in the background and Visit Boulder is the group championing the <br />effort. <br />9. Development Updates: <br />Mayor Leh commented Economic Development week next week. <br />Manager Zarate responded this week is Small Business week and confirmed <br />next week is Economic Development week — both of which receive national <br />recognition as well as recognition by the Governor. Mayor Leh reiterated his <br />appreciation of Manager Zarate's work as an Economic Development <br />professional. <br />10. Potential Future Agenda Items: <br />Mayor Leh mentioned the Metro Mayors Caucus invited him to a meeting with <br />a group working to improve arts in the region. He wondered if their work to <br />build up the arts in the area could potentially coincide with Sundance. They <br />work with finance groups, artists, and others around affordable housing, and <br />potential economic benefits. There was also thought that the group could <br />coordinate with the City's new Cultural Services Director. Councilmember <br />Fahey wondered whether a group like the Highway 36 corridor group could <br />
