Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
July 28, 2025
We are using a contract with DTJ consultants to kick off efforts for our ten year
plan. They will meet with our Board in August.
ii. Comprehensive Plan Update
Our consultants presented an 80% complete plan to City Council. Because of
considerable revisions requested by City Council, this plan will not be
implemented by November elections for three City Council positions.
iii. Maintenance Week Projects
We are redoing the pool deck and making other upgrades including maintenance
of wood floors, installing new Zoom technology for classes, etc.
Board Updates and Feedback
• Coal Creek Golf Course flood communication feedback.
Lisa: thank you Ginger for your earlier feedback on the flood. It was noted that
there was some confusion with the correspondence about the course being
closed to the golfers on the tee sheet on Thursday, July 17th. Their new system
was not working correctly, and the staff had to notify each person separately, not
by the SMS notification. The ladies league President was helpful in notifying the
golfers who were signed up the Member/Guest tournament that morning. Moving
forward, systems are in place to notify the public of any closures that arise
unexpectedly.
Lisa: how can we better engage Council (e.g., through Board Memos)?
Kathy: I suggest you limit these to one page.
Lisa: I will draft these for Board review documenting our conversation today with
Brandi, etc.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting on August 25
DTJ Consultants
Rec Center and Golf Fee Update Discussion
Dashboards
Adjourn — The meeting was adjourned at 8 pm. Move to adjourn was approved
unanimously.
Motion: Lisa
Second: Dick
