Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
July 28, 2025
Boulder hosting the Sundance Film Festival presents a future opportunity for
Louisville's existing interior spaces to be used in January. However, there is no
guarantee that any new construction (e.g., golf clubhouse) will be chosen to host
Festival events.
I am happy to help if you decide to set up a non-profit or if there are other ways I
can assist the Board.
• Parks & Recreation Communication Update -Ginger Cross
Ginger: I oversee marketing for the City's recreations services and parks and
open spaces (see slide presentation). Our target market is broad in age with
diverse interests. I consider myself to be a "cheerleader" for City staff to
celebrate our efforts and accomplishments. Our focus includes big Capital
Improvement Projects. Despite many different social media and other related
communication tools (e.g., The Latest Buzz for Open Space and Parks Updates
on the City's website), many citizens can still feel uninformed, which is a
challenge. Print media is still a predominant mode of how (e.g., senior) citizens
receive information.
We are also trying to get the word out on pending City Ordinance for e bike
usage and etiquette on city trails. This includes an upcoming second hearing by
City Council on August 5th. The State legislature is still considering how to
address e bikes on roads, etc.
Everett: can we combine the rec center and golf mobile device apps?
Ginger: not easily. These are also for two different target audiences.
• Golf Updates -Bo Lewis
Golf camps will finish soon for the year. The number of golf leagues are the
highest of any golf course in the State. Our focus is on ensuring accessibility to
increase the number of golfers. We are hosting USGA event soon which will
showcase the City's golf course.
Dick: how can we increase spectator draw for this event?
Bo: I will talk with Mark Jensen about this.
There is also new merchandise in the gold shop. We are also trying to improve
shop services. Top Tracer is new technology we are using. We are hosting a lot
of tournaments over the next two months.
• Recreation & Senior Services: Kathy
i. Long Range Plan Update
