Cityof Louisville PARKS & RECREATION MEMORANDUM To: Open Space Advisory Board From: Open Space Division Date: October 8, 2025 Re: Information Item 5: Staff Updates General: • Fire mitigation efforts related to Open Space mowing and grazing have been fully Grant Funded from 2023 — 2027. Grants include the Colorado State Forest Service, Financial Assistance Program through the Wildfire Mitigation Incentives for Local Government Grant Program and the Boulder County Grasslands Wildfire Fuels Mitigation Grant. • How board members can respond to requests for additional citizen input: o Share the meeting packet location for review of minutes and outcomes o Invite citizens to attend the next meeting to speak during "Public Comment not on the Agenda" o Invite citizens to email concerns to the staff liaison for distribution to OSAB o Recommend contacting their ward council member o Disengage and/or walk away if the discussion turns hostile Natural Resources: • Herbicide applications have been scheduled for October 14-17 on select Open Space properties. • Staff are finalizing the contract for prairie dog management to occur on select Open Space properties in October. The contract will include prairie dog relocation work with delivery to receiving site at the US Army Chemical Depot in Pueblo supporting the Black Footed Ferret Recovery Program. • The Warembourg fishing pond was refilled. • Interpretive panel drafts are being finalized with color. Staff will share with OSAB later this October. • Fall 2025 Cattle graze has been wrapped up, and staff has submitted final invoicing • Goat Grazing will occur on October 9th • Staff are working on final grazing measurement for fall graze • Staff are prepping and packaging collected seeds from open space properties Maintenance & Trails: • Staff replaced all 36 ageing and compromised bridge boards at North Open Space to promote safety.
