Open Space Advisory Board <br />Information Item 6: Staff Updates Continued <br />October 8, 2025 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />• Staff are completing the last round of mowing for the 2025 season by October 3, 2025 <br />• The fire perimeter mowing contractors have begun their second and final round of <br />mowing for the 2025 season. <br />• The Trails and Maintenance seasonal employees are wrapping up the 2025 season with <br />their last day on October 3, 2025. <br />• The Daughenbaugh Open Space parking lot resurfacing project is in the process of <br />soliciting bids from 7 contractors that attended the mandatory pre -bid meeting on <br />September 15, 2025. <br />• The design for the ditch stabilization project at North Open Space is under review by the <br />Ditch Company. Once approved the project will be bid out for construction. <br />Resource Protection: <br />• Rangers logged more PR (public relations) contacts in August than in any other month <br />over the past two years. The high number is likely related to good attendance at the <br />rangers' trail etiquette booths. <br />• Sr. Ranger White-Patarino will present a session about e-bikes at the Colorado Open <br />Space Alliance (COSA) conference on October 7. The session will include information <br />about how to start up a ranger e-bike patrol program and will attempt to workshop <br />solutions to trail safety issues. <br />• Louisville will host the North American premiere of the documentary film Guardians of <br />Hope, complete with a Q&A session with the filmmaker, Australian ranger Amanda <br />Dudgeon. <br />o Louisville rangers collaborated with the Rocky Mountain Ranger Association and <br />International Ranger Federation to make this opportunity possible. <br />o This inspiring film follows Ranger Dudgeon on a year -long journey across Oceania, <br />travelling over 94,000 km and hiking 1,610 km - one kilometer for every ranger <br />who has died in the line of duty. Through sweeping landscapes, intimate <br />interviews, and raw reflections, the film celebrates the rangers who dedicate <br />their lives to protecting nature, culture, and communities across eight nations. <br />Education and Volunteers: <br />• The Adopt group for Harper Lake will complete a trash pickup <br />• The Adopt group for Hecla Lake will be assisting staff with reseeding efforts <br />
