Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
DATE
know so it can be posted on the web site. Andy will announce to audience
members that they can check the LCC web page and Facebook page for notice
of cancellation. Andy will also ask the audience if there is interest in purchasing
hats and, if so, ask them to let us know at the T -shirt table. Andy asked City staff
to check and see if the mowing schedule can be changed so that it is not done
the same day as the concert. Parks crews are responsible for trash and recycle.
Information item: Lulu's BBQ and the Porch Deli are planning to have special
pickup food items available for concert nights.
Promotional Items: Justine checked on equipment for credit card sales. This
would require a $15 monthly access fee, paying transaction fees on each sale
and designating a single cell phone line for sales. Based on these criteria, there
was no interest in pursuing credit card sales at the event. The City agreed to sell
Tshirts on behalf of LCC at the Rec Center. Maryan will design a sign for the
sales table and Brett will print the sign. Based on an estimated cost of $4.50
$5.50 per shirt, Emma Shubin made a motion to sell the shirts for the following
prices: $10 youth, $12 adult. Justin Vigil -Tapia seconded the motion and the
pricing structure was approved by all members. Danyelle is also researching
selling oval bumper stickers for additional fundraising.
Restaurant Week: Emma has been researching this idea and asked for input on
pricing, event date and how we might promote the event. The following ideas
came up in the discussion: the date 8/27 could be used to coincide with our zip
code; rather than a fixed price meal, restaurants may be asked for a percentage
of receipts on a particular date as is done for Heat Relief (usually 10
fundraising may be specifically targeted for art in the park and could coincide with
events related to that program; advertising could include posters, website and
table tents. Emma thanked the group for suggestions and will continue to
research with local restaurant owners.
Miscellaneous items: Maryan will order business cards this week. Maryan has
engaged Stories on Stage (following up on action item from 5/19) for September
30 at the Arts Center and LAA will lend the microphone system if an LAA member
is in attendance, so Susan will attend. Brett researched the Improv Group and
found that $1200 was about the lowest price offered, so this idea is on hold.
City Council Update Council Member Frost Yarnell was not in attendance.
City Staff Update The check for the sculpture from the City to LCC should be
available this upcoming week.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting: Next meeting will be held on August 18,
2011 at the Arts Center and discussion items are due to Maryan by August 8,
2011.
PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www.pdffactory.com
