Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes
APRIL 12, 2007

McCartney noted the applicant was not present and asked the Commission if they wanted to
move forward with the hearing.

Lipton inquired if the Commissioners wanted to move forward.

All the Commissioners indicated a desire to move forward.

McCartney provided the following points in a summary of the staff report:
. Approval of Resolution No.8, Series 2007 would amend the Gateway Plaza final
PUD by removing the original signage notes on the PUD and then authorize the
approved sign code language that was recently adopted by the Commission.
. The applicant erected a cabinet sign in March 2007 without a building permit. City
Staff informed the applicant of the need of a building permit and the newly installed
cabinet sign was not consistent with the established PUD sign note requirements. In
lieu of sign removal, the applicant elected to file an amendment to the PUD.
. The existing sign is in conformance in sign design, sign area and character size as
what is currently permitted in the Commercial Development Design Standards and
Guidelines (CDDSG) and the Sign Code (which was recently amended) as found in
the Louisville Municipal Code (LMC).
. The approval of the request would apply to all the signs in the Gateway Plaza and not
just for the applicants sign.

McCartney discussed the photos on the sheet that had been distributed to the Commission.

Staff recommends approval of Resolution No.8, Series 2007.

Questions of Staff:
Lipton inquired about the wording of the Resolution and requested a change to reflect what is
changing and what will replace it.

Sheets discussed with staff the sign on the backside of the building.

McCartney stated the sign would be similar but smaller in scale.

Applicant Presentation:
Applicant not present.

Members of the Public:
None heard.

Public Hearing Closed / Commission Comments:
All of the Commissioner that were present stated they support the requested change to the PUD.

Lipton requested staff propose the wording change to the resolution prior to the Commission
taking action.

Lipton declared a 5 minute recess for that purpose.

McCartney provided the following wording change to Resolution No.8, Series 2007:
"Now therefore, be it resolved that the Planning Commission of the City of Louisville, Colorado
does hereby recommend approval of a request recommending an amendment to the Gateway
Plaza final PUD development plan authorizing revisions to the approved sign code language for
the reasons stated in this resolution."

Roll Call Vote:
