Louisville City Council Meeting <br />April 18, 2000 <br />Page 2. <br /> <br />Award Bid - Lake Park Bridge Installation Project <br />Resolution No. 25, Series 2000- Metro Mayor's Caucus Single Family <br />Bond Program <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA <br /> <br />David Ehrenberger, 601 Fairfield, Louisville, addressed the issue of a roller hockey rink <br />in Louisville. He stated that he and his family enjoy the sport of in-line hockey. He <br />noted that he is a hockey coach and believes that team sports teach the youth many <br />valuable skills and respect for each other. He asked the Council to consider <br />construction of an in-line hockey complex. <br /> <br />Claire Guidas, 829 Mount Evans Court, stated that she is a Peak to Peak Charter School <br />Board Member and has worked on this project for 2.5 years. She stated that over 130 <br />Louisville students have enrolled or applied to attend the Peak to Peak Charter School for <br />the fall session. She noted that it is the intent of the Peak to Peak Board to cooperate with <br />all governmental authorities in constructing the school. She noted that the Planning <br />Commission has reviewed and passed the PUD Special Review Use for a school, without <br />conditions. She proposed that building construction be allowed to proceed on building <br />"C" while they work with City Staff on issues associated with the educational facility, <br />such as traffic flow, child safety, and student drop off zones. She proposed these issues <br />come before the Planning Commission on June 13, 2000 and presented to City Council <br />for final hearing no later than July 5, 2000. She asked the Council to consider their <br />proposal. <br /> <br />Tore Christensen, 1289 Claremont, Boulder, President of Peak to Peak Charter School <br />stated that they are trying to comply with State regulations and continue the SRU process <br />with the City. He expressed the schools' appreciation of Councils' concern over safety <br />issues, and asked for a more expedient process to allow the school to open in the fall. He <br />stated that they have been informed by the State and the Boulder Valley School District <br />that the Colorado Department of Labor will issue the building permits. Christensen noted <br />that 300 students are enrolled for the fall session, and that 300 students additional applied <br />but were denied due to lack of space. He stated that they are in the process of purchasing <br />furniture and hiring teachers and asked Council to work with Peak to Peak Charter <br />School. <br /> <br />Devyn Shafer, 707 12th Street, Boulder, stated that she has had trouble finding a school. <br />She thought that the Peak to Peak Charter School would work for her. <br /> <br /> <br />
