BRaD
Meeting Summary
December 5, 2011
loading doc. BRaD should follow-up with them around that time. The company’s only complaint is
they would like to have bus and food service close by.
Intrex Aerospace – Bonnie Star was contacted by this company as they are seeking funding from
the State and asked Bonnie for assistance.Bonnie Star setup a conference call with Intrex and
with her contact at the State to discuss possible funding sources. This company is a machine
shop that is growing and adding an additional 30 employees. The company is looking for another
space. If it doesn’t work out to stay in Louisville, then they will look for space outside the City.
Hank Dalton suggested a possible Business Assistance Package (BAP).
Retention Visits Coming Up in December – AMI, Front Porch Digital, NexGen Storage
DISCUSSION OF BUSINESS INCUBATORS – Andrew Unkefer (Absent), Jeffrey Greenberg -
Andrew Unkefer was not present at the meeting when this item came up on the agenda so Bonnie
Star asked to move on to the next agenda item and come back to this item.
UPDATE ON INTEGRATED INFRASTRUCTURE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN, LOUISVILLE
FASTRACKS STATION AREA AND HIGHWAY 42 CORRIDOR (Planning Department):
Troy Russ, Planning and Building SafetyDirector, gave an update on thisproject. A kickoff
th
meeting was held on November 9and 70 people attended. Director Russ informed the group the
website www.the42gateway.comis up and running. The website will be helpful so that
stakeholderscan get updates on the project, communicate with consultants/staff, get background
on the project and get current project reports, news and information.
A new design of the road can match-up to a lower speed. 30 mph is the most effective for a
variety of land uses. ThePlanning Departments staff will present proposed designsto all City
Boards and Commissions between now and April 2012.
Member Menaker requested that Bonnie Star email BRaD members the link to the new website
and to also include Centennial Valley. Said it is a good public outreach.
DISCUSSION OF BUSINESS INCUBATORS – Andrew Unkefer was not present so his business
incubator was not discussed.
Jeffrey Greenberg summarized his desire to start a food incubator in Louisville. There are small
commissary kitchens spread throughout the Front Range. Jeffrey wants to start a food incubator
with 30-40,000 square feet of industrial/warehouse space wherecompanies could produce food
products on a timeshare basis. The incubator would provide professional and support services
and supply the back office processes such as quality control, etc. To make this venture profitable,
he will need 30-50 companies in the incubator. He needs financing and support from the USDA to
pull all the details together. Jeffrey also indicated there is not a lot of available capacity for
commissary space, but there is a tremendous amount of demand for providing a food incubator.
By bringing companies together, part-time positions might turn into full-time positions if food
companies decide to share resources. Jeffreyand an architect looked at space last week in CTC.
He’ll need $1.4 to $2M to do this project.
