The Technology Plan includes information about the steps taken since <br />the election to accomplish the goal. A survey was conducted, which requested <br />public comment on recommendations for the technology plan. <br /> <br />The Technology Plan is divided into short-term and long-term goals based on <br />staff time and budget availability. The short-term actions are already in the <br />process or are those staff believes can be accomplished relatively quickly and <br />require little budgetary expenditures. The long-term actions are expected to <br />have a larger cost and would require budget approval. <br /> <br />Short-Term <br />. Add FAQ section to web site (within 6-months). <br />. Add search engine to web site (within one year). <br />. Wireless Access in City Hall and new Library (with new construction of <br />library and remodel of City Hall). <br />. The following items will be enabled with the new accounting software that <br />the Finance Department plans to buy this year to replace the current ADG <br />system; although it is anticipated it will take 1-2 years to fully implement <br />these new uses: On-line bill paying; On-line permits and applications; On- <br />line job applications. <br /> <br />Lonq- Term <br />. Recreation/Senior Center On-line Registration ($20,000 - $30,000). <br />. Web Component for LaserFiche, which would make portions of Central <br />Records available on the web. <br />. Paperless Packets for City Council <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment. There were no comments. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br /> <br />Council member Brown stated the City has made great strides in technology and <br />congratulated the Staff. <br /> <br />Council member Van Pelt asked for clarification that a search engine could be <br />accomplished as a short-term goal. Deputy City Manager Boyd stated the IT <br />Staff and the Web Page Host Staff have discussed this matter and determined <br />this could be accomplished as a short-term goal. <br /> <br />Council member Van Pelt requested an outline and a cost analysis for a search <br />engine component for the City's Web page be presented at a future meeting. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Brown moved that Council approve the Technology <br />Plan, seconded by Council member Van Pelt. All in favor. <br />
