<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 18, 2005 <br />Page 8 of 9 <br /> <br />UPDATE - LIBRARY PROJECT <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Boyd updated Council on the progress of the new library. <br />The first pour of the first floor of the library has been made, as well as the top <br />coat for the underground parking garage, and elevator shaft. Next week the <br />contractor will be bringing in steel for the library construction. The two-week <br />forecast is posted at the library. A Web Cam has been installed on the City's <br />Web site. A new account has been added to the library budget for downtown <br />business advertising. <br /> <br />Energy savings measures are discussed at the Owner, Architect and Contractor <br />meetings. One suggestion for an energy saving measure was to add a white <br />color coating to the library roof. She noted the window tinting for the library is the <br />most energy efficient product available. The Architect and Contractor will bring in <br />potential items of energy efficiencies at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Council member Van Pelt asked what percentage of the project is completed. <br />City Manager Boyd estimated 40% of the project is complete. <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> <br />No items to report. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons reviewed the sales tax projection, which was presented <br />at the budget discussion. He requested authorization to commence the City Hall <br />remodel. He addressed the Recreation Center and Golf Course incentive <br />programs. He requested Staff reports: <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Boyd reported on the following Capital Projects: The lights <br />and resurfacing the tennis courts at Monarch and the Davidson Mesa Open <br />Space and Walnut Street Park trails. The Community Park completion date is <br />scheduled for December 2,2005. Landscaping is currently being installed. <br />Council approved a Sprayground contract, on the Consent Agenda, which will be <br />installed soon. The trails engineering projects are under way. Memory Square <br />Playground has been ordered and should be installed in early November <br /> <br />Public Works Director Phare reported the street reconstruction project is being <br />completed weather permitting and Dillon Road should be paved by the weekend. <br />The concrete project is still under construction. <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons reported on the following: <br />.
