Building Code Board of Appeals <br />Minutes <br />February 9, 2012 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Election of Officers – Peter Geise was nominated by Gary <br />Mancuso as Chairman and Robert Van Pelt seconded and the <br />motion passed by unanimous voice approval. David Rounds was <br />nominated by Robert Van Pelt as Vice Chair, Matthew Berry <br />seconded and the motion passed by unanimous voice approval. <br />Robert Van Pelt will finish the meeting and Chairman and Peter will <br />start next meeting. <br />Discussion <br />Review Goals and projects for 2012 Building Code Board of <br />Appeals <br />Mobile Home Ordinance –The ordinance will be reviewed <br />o <br />and changes will be finalized by the end of the year. <br />2012 IBC Code Adoption – This year the Board will review <br />o <br />the new IgCC code and look into adoption part or all of it. <br />2012 Code Amendments – This year the Board will look at <br />o <br />adopting part or all of the 2012 ICC Code. <br />Other– Planning Division will have a staff member at the <br />o <br />next meeting to go over the changes to the Comp Plan. <br />Peter Geise mentioned that the Fire department is currently <br />working on the sprinkler code. Staff will be working on the <br />inspection cards to include all the inspection types and to <br />make it easier for the home owners to understand. Robert <br />Van Pelt brought up the possibility that staff might consider <br />this when looking into the new permitting software. <br />Review Goals and projects for 2012 Building Safety Division <br />New Permitting Software – Staff is looking into new <br />o <br />permitting software that will be compatible with other <br />departments as well as meet all of our needs. Staff will work <br />with Planning, Public Works and Finance to find the <br />compatible system and will be sending out Request for <br />Proposals (RFPs) to companies. <br />Digitizing Documents – Laserfiche and GIS – Staff has a <br />o <br />budget of $30,000 to with for digitizing the files in the file <br />room and also, files with Records Management. GIS is <br />currently working on a system that will be available late this <br />year or early next year. <br />Cross Training with Planning Division – The Building <br />o <br />Safety division will be cross training with the Planning <br />Division to help ensure better abilities for coverage between <br />both divisions and the ability to locate documents in each <br />division to help with customer service. <br />
