Building Code Board of Appeals Minutes February 9, 2012 Page 3 of 3 Update Building Safety DivisionYear End Totals Permits - Permit numbers have picked up and they are o similar to what we were seeing in the late 1990’s. Permit numbers for single family homes started going back up in 2006, in part to the North End (starting 2008) and Steel Ranch (starting this year) Subdivisions. Commercial tenant finish permits help to keep the Division going. Inspections - Have almost in 2011 from 2010. There were o 300+ courtesy inspections done, more than any other jurisdiction. Fees– Water and Sewer fees for new construction have o played a big role in the increase of fees that have come in. Larger valuations on jobs have helped the increase in fees coming in also. 2012 – Robert Van Pelt asked how staff sees this year’s o numbers starting out. Mike Jones stated that Boulder Creek may slow down a little, but Ryland is staying steady and Phase two for Markel in the North End Subdivision will open up this year to allow for more multi-family homes to start construction. Staff is hoping to see more possibilities for Conoco Phillips to get going this year and larger commercial permits for the C.T.C. area. Staff Comments Meeting Location and Dates – Building Code Board of Appeals will meet in the off months from when the ICC Board meets. Today’s meeting was originally scheduled for January 19, but was re-scheduled so all the Board Members could be present. Staff will look in to the meeting start time for the joint study session with City Council on May 8, 2012 and will let the Board know at the next meeting. Open Government Handout – Staff will need to look into the next meeting date for the Open Government meeting and who will need to attend. Board comments – None Discussion Items for Next Meeting We will try to have the Mobil Home Ordinance ready to be reviewed or the talk in more detail about. We hope to have the code books, IgCC and 700, in time to hand out for the next meeting. We will have one or more staff members from the Planning Division at our next meeting to talk about the updates to the Comp Plan. Adjourn – The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 PM.
