City Council Water Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Friday, March 2, 2012 <br />Page 2of 2 <br />VIII.City Updates –Water Projects <br />i. Facility Plan –Hatch Mott MacDonald continues to work on the project. Briefly <br />discussed the results of the public outreach and the status of the project. <br />ii. 3MG Tank –the Committee was updated on the planned course of action to <br />stabilize and determine a permanent fix for the tank.The tank roof is being <br />stabilized with temporary shoring and while the tank is off-line a structural <br />consultant will evaluate the remainder of the structure. <br />iii.Water Resources Consultant–A number of firms supplied SOQ and two were <br />interviewed. Council will be presented with staff recommendations in the near <br />future. <br />iv.WWTP Permit–A brief discussion took place about how the Permit may <br />impact the operations of the Water Treatment Plants. A study will be <br />necessary to determine methods to handle treatment solids. <br />v.Tap Fees–The difference between Tap Fees and User Fees was discussed. <br />Staff is looking at the equity of the existing Tap Fee structure for single <br />bedroom/economy apartments. Rick Brew, a local developer, expressed his <br />interest in a more equitable structure. Staff would continue to evaluate the <br />matter. <br />vi.Harney Lastoka –raw water supply–Possible improvements and the <br />opportunity to utilize raw water for a variety of areas (Hecla, Harney-Lastoka <br />OS, Sports Complex, rerouting of a ditch lateral, combining ditches, etc.) was <br />discussed. <br />vii.Lease Updates –The Committee was informed about current water leases and <br />potential water leases that the City is involved with. <br />IX. Background Information <br />i.City’s ownership interests in local ditches–Continued discussion on where and <br />how the City obtains its water. <br />X.Agenda Items and Date for Next Meeting. <br />The next meeting will be scheduled for May, once thewater situation is better <br />understood andas schedules allow. <br />Items for discussion mayinclude the Facilities Plan (water demands), Tap Fees <br />and updates on water projects. <br />XI.Adjourn:The meeting was adjourned at 9:25am. <br />
