Planning Meeting:
Meeting Facilitator Chris Petrizzo of CLIQ Instructional & Performance
Solutions was introduced.
A. Where Are We Now?
Chris Petrizzo asked Bridget Bacon to give a brief overview of the
current state of the Louisville Historical Museum. She reported on such aspects of the
Museum as visitor numbers, open hours, the fact that artifacts are more safely stored than
ever before (due to the fact that items have been removed from the partially dirt basement
on the recommendation of museum experts), and the part time staff hours. Public interest is
increasing, as evidenced through the favorable public response to the extended open hours
and the high levels of paid memberships to the Historical Commission, particularly over the
past four years when the Commission has received between 90 and 120 new paid
memberships each year. Bridget reported that interest in the Museum and Louisville history
has particularly increased following times when Louisville as a city and community has
received positive national media attention. She stated that the Museum has high levels of
volunteers and volunteer hours, with 39 people (including Commission members) having
volunteered about 2,100 hours for the Museum in 2011. Space and time for keeping up
with cataloging and permanently storing photos, files, and artifacts are an issue.
City of Louisville
Louisville Historical Museum
749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303-665-9048 (phone) 303-335-4550 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov
