Local Licensing Authority
Minutes
May 21, 2012
Page 4of 4
Carlson –yes, Lipton –yes and Gunning –yes.
Police Department Reports
Officer Redard asked to confirm the Authority wanted him to do checks on the
Medical Marijuana businesses and the current employees. The Authority
confirmed the expectation of occasionally going to the establishment, similar to
bar checks, and creating a dialogue with them to help with compliance with the
municipal code. There was discussion about the requirement for both the State
and the City to run the background checks. Attorney Culley reminded the
Authority the Municipal Code requires it and the State has been de-funded in the
Medical Marijuana division. Authority members decided not to make any
recommendation to change it at this time since this is relatively new and needs to
be tested with time.
Secretary’s Report
Hanson reported a Special Events application was submitted with several event
dates. One of the dates will be before the next meeting, so she will issue it
administratively and then invitethe applicant to the next meeting concerning the
other dates.
Authority Attorney’s Report
Authority Attorney had no report. The Authority members thanked her for her
work and research on questions that arise.
Authority Comment
Carlson reported the pending state legislation, which would have affectedthe cap
on the amount brewpubs could sell and distribute, died.
Adjourn
–Liptonmoved to adjourn. Carlsonseconded. All in favor. The
meeting was adjourned at 8:03p.m.
________________________________
Cecilia Wilson, Chairperson
_____________________________
Carol Hanson, Deputy City Clerk
