City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 7, 2012 <br />Page 5 of 18 <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Bob Lilienfeld, 1033 Adams Avenue, Louisville, CO stated allowing development outside <br />the downtown area may be counterproductive. Council member Loo asked where a <br />200 seat theatre would be placed in the downtown area. He stated there may be viable <br />building space available in the downtown. <br />Council member Loo asked Economic Development Director DeJong if there is any <br />space in the downtown area, which would accommodate a 200 seat theatre. Economic <br />Development Director DeJong responded no. <br />City Manager Fleming felt the speaker brought forth great questions. He outlined the <br />purpose of the Business Assistance Program was to entice new business to Louisville <br />and create new sales tax revenue. He felt without a Business Assistance Program, the <br />City may lose new business opportunities and possible sales tax revenue. This <br />proposal would allow an existing downtown business to expand. <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton welcomed this new business proposal and felt it would relieve a <br />lot of congestion at the City facilities. He explained the Business Assistance Program <br />provides incentives to new businesses in Louisville. <br />Council member Jasiak voiced her excitement over the expansion of the Art <br />Underground, and the programs proposed for pre - school children and senior citizens. <br />MOTION: Council member Loo moved to approve Resolution No. 46, Series 2012, <br />seconded by Mayor Muckle. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a vote of <br />6 -0. Absent: Council member Sackett. <br />RESOLUTION No. 47, SERIES 2012 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUSINESS <br />ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT WITH SEAKR ENGINEERING, INC. FOR THE <br />OCCUPANCY OF EXISTING VACANT SPACE AT 1795 DOGWOOD STREET IN THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />Mayor Muckle requested a staff presentation. <br />Economic Development Director DeJong requested City Council approval of a proposed <br />Economic Development Business Assistance Package (BAP) for SEAKR Engineering, <br />Inc. SEAKR is an established aerospace engineering company who requires an <br />additional location to expand their operations. The company has 400 employees in <br />three buildings in Centennial, CO. SEAKR designs and manufactures avionics and on- <br />board computing and data storage systems for satellites and space craft. SEAKR's <br />customers are the prime aerospace and defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, <br />Boeing, Orbital Sciences, and Ball Aerospace. <br />
