City Council
Meeting Minutes
August 7, 2012
PUBLIC COMMENT
Bob Lilienfeld, 1033 Adams Avenue, Louisville, CO stated allowing development outside
the downtown area may be counterproductive. Council member Loo asked where a
200 seat theatre would be placed in the downtown area. He stated there may be viable
building space available in the downtown.
Council member Loo asked Economic Development Director DeJong if there is any
space in the downtown area, which would accommodate a 200 seat theatre. Economic
Development Director DeJong responded no.
City Manager Fleming felt the speaker brought forth great questions. He outlined the
purpose of the Business Assistance Program was to entice new business to Louisville
and create new sales tax revenue. He felt without a Business Assistance Program, the
City may lose new business opportunities and possible sales tax revenue. This
proposal would allow an existing downtown business to expand.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mayor Pro Tem Dalton welcomed this new business proposal and felt it would relieve a
lot of congestion at the City facilities. He explained the Business Assistance Program
provides incentives to new businesses in Louisville.
Council member Jasiak voiced her excitement over the expansion of the Art
Underground, and the programs proposed for pre - school children and senior citizens.
MOTION: Council member Loo moved to approve Resolution No. 46, Series 2012,
seconded by Mayor Muckle. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a vote of
6 -0. Absent: Council member Sackett.
RESOLUTION No. 47, SERIES 2012 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUSINESS
ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT WITH SEAKR ENGINEERING, INC. FOR THE
OCCUPANCY OF EXISTING VACANT SPACE AT 1795 DOGWOOD STREET IN THE
CITY OF LOUISVILLE
Mayor Muckle requested a staff presentation.
Economic Development Director DeJong requested City Council approval of a proposed
Economic Development Business Assistance Package (BAP) for SEAKR Engineering,
Inc. SEAKR is an established aerospace engineering company who requires an
additional location to expand their operations. The company has 400 employees in
three buildings in Centennial, CO. SEAKR designs and manufactures avionics and on-
board computing and data storage systems for satellites and space craft. SEAKR's
customers are the prime aerospace and defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin,
Boeing, Orbital Sciences, and Ball Aerospace.
