Louisville Historical Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 18, 2012 <br />Louisville Public Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />6:30 p.m. <br />I. Call to Order & Introductions: Commission Chair Dan Mellish called the meeting to order at <br />6:35 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Commission Members Present: Dan Mellish. Dave Ferguson, Pat Seader, Gladys Levis-Pilz, <br />Lynn Koglin, Andrew Williams <br />Commission Members Absent: Sally Burlingame, Anne Robinson, Brian Chamberlin, Jennifer <br />Strand <br />City Representatives Present: Frost Yarnell, City Council member <br />Beth Barrett, Directory of Library & Museum Services <br />Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator <br />Member of the Public Present: Jean Morgan <br />III. Approval of Agenda: Members approved the agenda. <br />IV. Public Comments: Jean Morgan made a public comment relating to giving an update about <br />the City Council’s consideration of whether to save the Louisville Grain Elevator. She noted <br />that a citizen group, informally called the MILL club, may be interested in assisting the City with <br />fundraising. <br />V. Meeting as Advisory Board for the City of Louisville <br />A. Approval of June 20, 2012 Meeting Minutes: Approval was tabled until the August 2012 <br />meeting. <br />B. Report from the Director of Library and Museum Services: Beth reported: (1) on <br />August 25, there will be an activity at the library with 8-12-year-olds who will learn about <br />paper engineering using Richard Wheeler’s paper craft model of the Grain Elevator; (2) the <br />City is working on the 2013 budget proposal; (3) the number of Museum visitors is up 136% <br />since the new extended hours began; and (4) the Library Board is working on a new 5-year <br />strategic plan for the library, including incorporating ways to preserve the past and give <br />community members access to archives and historic materials. <br />C. Report from the Museum Coordinator: <br />1. Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors: <br />a. Marilyn Hunt - archival materials about the history of the Library and other <br />materials relating to Louisville <br />b.
