Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 6, 2012 <br />Page 3of 4 <br />Planning Director, Troy Russ, reported that Phillips 66 has decided they do not want the US36 <br />trail to go on to their property so CDOT will build the trail in the CDOT R.O.W. By not having the <br />trail on their property, they will not meet the public land dedication as a part of the development. <br />The land dedication is an open item again. <br />Seakr Engineering <br />–Company is planning to expand and move into leased space formerly <br />occupied by Lockheed-Martin.Initial hiring will be for about 40 employees, with the plan togrow <br />to 200 within 3 years. A Business Assistance Package is scheduled to be awarded at the August <br />th <br />7Council meeting. <br />New Commercial Buildings in Steel Ranch–RMCS and Art Underground plan to each build new <br />buildings at the commercial pad at the Steel Ranch subdivision. Art Undergroundwill be <br />expanding their operation into this new building, but will keep their presence in downtown. <br />RMCS will build a speculative building for multiple tenants. A Business Assistance Package is <br />th <br />scheduled to be awarded at the August 7Council meeting. <br />New building at 638 Taylor in CTC–Construction underway on a new 12,500 SF multi-tenant <br />building in CTC located at 638 Taylor. <br />Downtown Updates–A new business,The Singing Cook, has opened inthe 700 block of Main <br />Street. The DBA continues to have a successful Street Faire season. Interest has been picking <br />up for interest in new retail in the downtown area. A two-year lease has been executed with Altan <br />Alma Organics and Radcliff Upholstery for the property on Front Street. Altan Alma plans to <br />install small sales buildings, imported from Germany, to facilitate small farmers to come and sell <br />product. <br />th <br />Grain Elevator. <br />–Going to Council for final direction on August 7 <br />Comp Plan and Small Area Plans -Continuing to work with the Planning staff to develop <br />components of the Comp Plan. The recommended2013 CIP includes funding for a small area <br />plan and wayfinding/signage study for the McCaslin/Centennial Valley and the South Boulder <br />Road area. <br />Drought Management Plan–A discussion was planned for this BRAD meeting, but Public Works <br />is not ready to discuss at this time on how the Drought Management Planwould affect <br />businesses. This item will come back in the fall/winter or when it’s the right time for Public Works <br />staff. <br />REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS <br />– <br />Jill Midgley thanked Scott Reichenberg for the CTC trail connection and the contribution the CTC <br />Metro District contributed towards the project. The trail is complete, contractor working on punch- <br />list items. <br />Future retention visits to be focused on CTC area, businesses selected from the Business <br />Spotlights. <br />City Manager Fleming gave an update on the status of Xcel Energy requiring Cities to remove <br />banners from their light poles.The City has made a request toXcelto keep the banners on the <br />poles through the end of the year. City looking into acquiring the light poles and need pricing from <br /> <br />
