Colorado State University Design Project
Grant Reid, the CSU professor in charge of senior projects in the Landscape Design
Program, would like to meet with HFAB in November. HFAB would like to invite
Catherine Able and some representatives from the Louisville Historical Society to our
October meeting to begin to develop requirements for the property such as historical
relationships, anticipated property use as well as identify any Historical Committee
desires or limitations. HFAB can obtain background information on the property from
the Louisville Times and from the Historical Society.
Commercial & Industrial Guidelines
Tabled for future work session.
Goals Update
The goals, revised 6/10/02 were reviewed and the committee opted to accept items 2 -6.
HFAB felt that the proposed goal 1: Review goals quarterly throughout 2002, was a
process rather than a goal.
The approved goals as of 9/5/02 are then:
1. Collaborate with the Louisville Planning Commission to review, revise and
update landscape design sections of the Community Development Design
Standards & Guidelines, both commercial and industrial.
2. Address lack of public outreach concern by utilizing various media and
collaborating with other city advisory boards and pursue demonstration projects.
3. Review Gateway Landscaping plantings and replenish if necessary.
4. Implement the Landscape Beautification Master Plan as budget allows.
5. Redevelop the Arboretum Master Plan.
Cindy recommended that we contact Patricia Demchak, a new reporter for the Louisville
Times, about the Via Appia project to develop an article (Goal 2). -We will also want to
obtain coverage for the Historical Society property in the spring when the senior presents
the proposed landscape plan to HFAB and the Historical Society.
New Business
Web Site Review
The committee didn't have time to review the web site that David Sexton had
recommended as a starting point for establishing requirements for an HFAB site.
