All in favor. <br /> <br />Ae <br /> <br />Approval of Bills <br />Approval of Minutes (05/02/01) <br />Authorization to Bid - Shelter at Pirate's Park <br />Bid Award- 2001 Street Reconstruction Project <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA <br /> <br />Lucas Catalano, 471 Muirfield Circle, and Matt Clary, 757 Peach Court, Louisville, CO, <br />students of Monarch High School, stated they worked on a semester-long government <br />project. They chose to address the problem of traffic congestion on 88th Street and <br />Campus Drive and shared the results of their study with Council. They thanked Don <br />Brown, Bill Simmons, Craig Kitzman and Bill Kingston, of the City of Louisville, Don <br />Orr, of Boulder Valley School District and Dan Garrett, of Boulder County Paramedics, <br />for their assistance. Clary stated that 4,600 cars a day make a left hand turn at Campus <br />Drive, and 700 of those cars are between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. Catalano quoted an article <br />from the US Today Newspaper stating that small intersections can be more dangerous <br />than highways because drivers often underestimate the risks and become careless. <br />Catalano stated that many of the drivers on Campus Drive are teenagers with limited <br />driving experience. To raise public awareness, they contacted several newspapers and <br />have written letters to the editors. They suggested widening 88th Street and extending <br />Campus Drive to S. 96th Street. <br /> <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON <br /> THE AGENDA <br /> <br />Brown commended Catalano and Clary for their diligence and courtesy and thanked them <br />for their comments and suggestions. <br /> <br />Brown commented that he has received emails relative to the construction of the PSCo <br />power lines. Davidson reported that Public Service is doing construction in compliance <br />with the Special Review Use Permit. <br /> <br />Sisk reported that he had contacted AT&T Broadband Cable TV relative to the increase <br />in the cable TV rates and spoke with their representative, Marjorie Lejuste. He stated that <br />the rate increase was to be $1.50, however, his cable bill increased by 30%. He noted <br />that Com Cast had offered a discount for senior citizens, but AT&T Broadband has not <br /> <br /> <br />
