City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 16, 2007 <br />Page 4 of 15 <br />Council Member Marsella explained the next planned RTD route running through <br />Louisville is the 96L, which will connect to Erie. However this route would not <br />benefit students unless they lived on the north side of town. She voiced her <br />support for a ski bus. <br />Parks & Recreation Director IRobson addressed the Memory Square Pool issue <br />and noted the pool is included in the 2008 budget, and at this point, the City has <br />no plans to close the pool. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown explaiined the Downtown Business Association should be <br />credited for the Street Faire. He recognized Mark Zaremba, who was <br />responsible for the Youth Night at the Street Faire. <br />Mayor Sisk addressed teen friendly places and suggested the development in <br />the downtown area would have more opportunities for teen hang-outs. He asked <br />the Public Works Director to .address the roadways to the school. Public Works <br />Director Phare reported therE; may be a possibility for a new road to Monarch <br />with the redevelopment of the Sun Microsystems property. <br />PRESENTATION SHOP LOUISVILLE <br />Mark Zaremba and Jon Skinner of ZVC, Inc., gave a short presentation and <br />update on the status of the campaign. Mr. Zaremba explained the campaign <br />proposes to encourage more citizens to shop locally, which will help generate <br />sales tax revenue, and in turin will benefit all the residents. ZVC was hired to <br />design a logo, messaging and a marketing plan. He reported on a program, <br />which will be the Shop Louisville Contest and will give the winner a $500 gift <br />certificate to shop in Louisville. The government channel (Channel 8) will <br />broadcast the Shop Louisville message. <br />Mr. Skinner explained the St-iop Louisville Campaign is proposed to be a platform <br />for the citizens and the merchants. The program proposes to educate; inform; <br />excite and motivate citizens and to facilitate Shop Louisville. They propose a <br />program where citizens can .access the Internet to sign up for various programs. <br />Mayor Sisk thanked Mr. ZarE;mba and Mr. Skinner and members of the BRaD <br />Committee for their work on this project. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown urged Council to sustain the Shop Louisville program and <br />to continually improve the program. He commended the BRaD Committee <br />members: Arlin Lehman, Hank Dalton, Ron Sackett, Rob Lathrop, Frost Yarnell, <br />Lauren Lauretti, Eugene Car~anci, Becky Hogan and Malcolm Fleming. <br />SEPTEMBER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE <br />
