Digitizing Documents – Laserfiche and GIS
Staff updated the Board on the latest developments in the digitizing
of the Building Safety documents. The Board is concerned about
the possible public access in the next few years. Their concerns
focus on the possibility of security issues with the public being able
to see building plans. Some examples they gave were of banks,
commercial buildings with clean rooms and residential properties
with panic rooms. Staff will bring up the concerns with the
committee, supervisors and the City Attorney.
II. Cross Training with Planning Division
Plans are in the works for consolidating the Planning and Building
Safety Divisions in one area. This will make it easier for staff to
cross train and help out with coverage. The plans should be
completed and brought to Staff in the upcoming month.
III. Once the cards have been
updated, the plan reviewer will mark the inspections on the card
during the review process. The card will then be given to the
customer when they are picking up their permit. This will help to cut
back on any confusion of which inspections might be needed. Van
Pelt asked if there will be a spot on the card for third party
inspectors to sign off on inspections they have performed. Berry
asked if the City is looking at doing mid-roof inspections on re-roof
permit. Staff confirmed it is something they are strongly
considering.
IV. Review of the Louisville Municipal Ordinance
Staff will be looking at Chapter 15 of the LMC and will make
changes where needed. Most changes will be in the wording of
referring to the UBC.
V. Permitting Software
Staff had started to look into new permitting software in 2012 and it
was placed in hold until the consultants had completed the IT
