She voiced her belief that the <br />proposed expansion will serve Louisville for the next 20 to 30 years. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />Walt Oehlkers, 665 W. Juniper Court, Louisville, CO, Steering Committee member, <br />stated that he has been a resident of Louisville since 1991. He explained that there is a <br />tremendous amount of activity around the recreation center. He voiced his concern that <br />the facility expansion will be undersized and not address the Senior Center's needs. He <br />noted that many residents use the recreation center and enjoy the artwork in the lobby, the <br />pool and recreational facilities. He stated that it was a privileged to serve on the Steering <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Rich Olson, 801 Owl Drive, Louisville, CO, stated that the new proposed expansion to <br />the Senior Center will provide a kitchen, eating area, and a pool table room. He also <br />voiced concern that the proposed expansion to the Senior Center may not be large enough <br />to meet their needs. He explained that the balance of the work would remodel the existing <br />senior center area. He stated that he was impressed by the citizen support offered for the <br />Recreation/Senior Center. He noted that the youth area was deleted in order to reduce the <br />cost of the overall project. He commended Keith Williams for his hard work. <br /> <br />Bud Thompson, 120 Crestview, Louisville, CO commented that he is a Louisville <br />residents, recreation center user and a member of the Steering Committee. He explained <br />that he and his family use and enjoy the pool at the Recreation Center. He commended <br />Keith Williams and Kathy Martin, the Architect and the Consultant for incorporating the <br />different factions into the process. <br /> <br />Stacy Moore, 1013 Arapahoe Circle, Louisville, CO, Steering Committee member, <br />voiced her support for the expansion of the Recreation Center. She expressed her <br />concern that the aquatic facilities are not changing a great deal. She stated that she had <br />hoped that the design of the indoor and outdoor pool would not pit water user against <br />water user (lap swimmers against the water aerobics classes) (swim team against other <br />water sports) and provide a long-term plan that would incorporates all members of the <br />community. She suggested covering or partially covering the outdoor swimming pool to <br />elevate the congestion of the indoor facility. <br /> <br />Gary Baxley, 319 W. Hawthorn Court, Louisville, Colorado stated that, in light of the <br />current drought situation, he objected to the planning and development of a new outdoor <br />swimming pool facility. He stated that expanding the indoor swimming pool made more <br />sense. <br /> <br />Doug Grinbergs, 530 W. Sycamore Circle, Louisville, CO, commented that he enjoys the <br />artwork displayed in the lobby of the Recreation Center.
