Louisville City Council Meeting <br />June 4, 2002 <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />MOTION: Sisk moved that Council direct Staff and the consultant to commence <br />discussion and negotiations for the Post Office site for the acquisition of the new library, <br />seconded by Mayer. <br /> <br />Keany offered a friendly amendment that site be conditioned that the Post Office be <br />relocated downtown. <br /> <br />Sisk asked if the amendment could reflect the desired effect. <br /> <br />Keany stated that the consultant could move forward with the preferred site, however if a <br />relocation site for the Post Office is not identified, he would vote against the purchase of <br />the property. <br /> <br />Mayer supported the motion, however stated that there would be many factors to consider <br />in determination of the land: <br /> <br />Davidson offered a friendly amendment that if negotiations fail on the Post Office site, <br />the alternate site would be reconsidered. <br /> <br />Sisk and Mayer accepted the amendment. <br /> <br />VOTE: All in favor. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - LOUISVILLE RECREATION CENTER/SENIOR CENTER <br /> NEEDS ASSESSMENT <br /> <br />Davidson called for Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Recreation Director Keith Williams reviewed that the architectural firm of Sink Combs <br />Dethlefs has been working with Staff in conducting a Needs Assessment of the possible <br />future expansion of the City of Louisville Recreation/Senior Center. Additionally, an <br />analysis and assessment of a new outdoor swimming pool was conducted in conjunction <br />with this project. He noted that the expansion plans are targeted to meet the needs of the <br />community for the next thirty-plus years. He stated that the architect, Staff and members <br />of the committee would present the expansion plans. <br /> <br />Alicia Mahoney, 1101 Jefferson Avenue, Louisville, CO, Steering Committee member, <br />reviewed the process of the City of Louisville Recreation/Senior Center Expansion <br />project. She explained that the planning process began in February of 2002. She <br />recognized Keith Williams, Kathy Martin, Recreation/Senior Staff and members of the <br />Steering Committee, for assisting in a lively and challenging planning process. The goal <br />was to put as much citizen input as possible. She reported that there has been an <br />enthusiastic response for the current plan.
